Honest conversation opens the door
Naming use and relapse without shame makes room for help—at any age. We encourage open dialogue, peer connection, and clear next steps for people already facing drug problems and the people who love them.
Welcome
Break the Chain

Hope, recovery & sobriety
Recovery is hope in motion—honest, supported, and never alone.
Like the phoenix, recovery reminds us that change is possible. Standing with people of any age on the path to sobriety and fuller life is how we make that real—connection, clinical and community support, and groups that show up on the calendar so fewer people and families walk alone.
Break the cycle: name the need, ask for help, and keep showing up.
Foundation overview
The Michael Kellermann Foundation (MKF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to drug recovery, sobriety, and community-based support for people of all ages. We help people who are already in the work of active use, treatment, and recovery take the next right step—whether that means finding care, partnering with other organizations, or volunteering time and skills.
MKF was founded to honor a simple belief: people heal best when support is hopeful, honest, and deeply connected to community. We focus on building skills, dignity, and connection—not fear—to help people of all ages, families, and support networks build a healthier life in recovery and know where to turn when life gets complicated.
Our team collaborates with counselors, peer leaders, and family-serving organizations to deliver programming, training, and materials that respect lived experience and cultural context.

When neighbors, other organizations, and families align around people in recovery, change becomes sustainable.
Remembering Michael
The charity was developed in memory of our dear friend Michael “Dart” Kellermann.
He fought a battle that most people never fully understood—maybe still don’t—and although his battle is over, his strength lives on through this foundation.
Working with MKF was a life-changing experience for me. From the very beginning, I felt a level of compassion, professionalism, and genuine care that I had not encountered anywhere else during my journey with addiction.
The environment at the facility itself was calm, clean, and welcoming, which is what I needed to feel safe and focused. It felt supportive and restorative, which made a huge difference in my ability to open up and commit to the process. Every person I interacted with at and through MKF was knowledgeable, patient, and invested in my recovery. They didn’t treat me like just another case and they took the time to understand my personal struggles and tailored my treatment in a way that worked for me.
The programs offered were excellent in every way. They addressed not only the addiction itself but also the underlying causes, which was critical for long-term recovery. I learned coping strategies, built healthier habits, and gained a better understanding of myself. The balance of therapy, group sessions, and personal reflection was incredibly effective.
MKF gave me hope when I felt like I had none. They helped me rebuild my confidence and showed me that recovery is not only possible but sustainable. I am in a much better place today because of the tools and support I received there.
I would highly recommend MKF to anyone struggling with addiction or to families looking for help for a loved one. The Florida facility, in particular, exceeded all my expectations and truly changed my life for the better.

Recovery & life
Sustainable recovery is not built on fear—it is built on support, connection, and environments where asking for help is met with respect. MKF centers people of all ages who are already living with drug use, dependence, and the daily work of getting well—not a generic, before-the-problem awareness campaign.
Naming use and relapse without shame makes room for help—at any age. We encourage open dialogue, peer connection, and clear next steps for people already facing drug problems and the people who love them.
Clinics, community groups, and other organizations see people every day. Shared training, language, and practical tools help every team show up for recovery with consistency and care.
The people we love in recovery should not be alone—and neither should those who support them. We point families to credible tools, guidance, and hope for the long work of healing together.

Programs
MKF can include therapist involvement, structured group routines, and program timeframes you can plan for—so recovery has a face, a place, and a week you can see on the calendar.
We help assemble what people in substance use need most: clinical and therapist touchpoints where the plan requires them, group work that shows up on the same days each week, and a care rhythm you can name without guesswork.

MKF is committed to transparent reporting. As we expand, we publish aggregate outcomes and learning—what worked, what surprised us, and what we are improving. See our story for more on how we think about impact.
